Little Friends (64)

Anna brought Quinn over to my parents house on Sunday. This was all the idea of my cousin’s husband Matt and I’m glad he got us all together. They live across the yard and have a two year old. We try to get their little girl Annie and Quinn together when we can. Little kids love the McMains compound. Annie is the third generation to be raised on the quiet spot of land that is now right in the middle of Baton Rouge. When my grandfather bought the land near the corner of Old Hammond Highway and Jefferson in the 1950′s there was not much else around. The city has grown up around it but our 14 acres can feel pretty removed from the traffic and noise of the city. There is a swing set and a slide and lots of land to run around on. I spent many happy years exploring there when I was little. So, it is pretty special to see Quinn and Annie getting to enjoy it.

There was even more rain on Saturday so I didn’t bother to try to take a photo… I made it to day 63 of 2011 without missing a shot but it had to happen sometime. I had thought that I would be spending today on a tuna fishing boat for Country Roads Magazine but the trip got cancelled. Tomorrow I am going to try to get over to Eunice or Mamou for the country Mardi Gras and all that chicken chasing. That is always a fun place to take pictures.
