I woke up at 4:30 AM to try to catch the sunrise at Tin Lizzy’s on the Tickfaw River. Unfortunately, my estimations of where the sun was going to rise in relation to where I could shoot from were completely backwards. I still got some shots, but I’ll have to return around dusk to get the shots I really want.
The rest of the morning was spent driving around lower Livingston Parish. I passed through the towns of Killian, Port Vincent and French Settlement. There is a lot to photograph out there and I think the client will be happy with the net result of today’s and next week’s shooting, even if I can’t tell east from west sometimes.
Again, I am limited in what I can post, but I thought these three shots were nice and I doubt anyone will mind me sharing them here. Morning light is so fickle. It goes from being perfect to being horrible then back to pretty great in the span of such a short period that planning and luck are what you have to rely on to get your shots.
Anyway, it is a fun project so far. I enjoy any opportunity to explore the back roads of Louisiana. My only regret is that I can’t stop and eat at every gas station selling cracklins and boudin or roadside fried fish shack.
